Call For Officer Nominations

The PowerCampus User’s Group is looking for qualified individuals to fill the roles of Vice President, Secretary, Communications Officer, and Program Committee Representative. If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone, please contact the PCUG board here.  The deadline for nominations is May 5th.  Elections will be held during an online meeting on May 24th.  A description of the positions can be found below:

Vice President

  • Perform the duties of the President in the event of the President’s disability or absence from meetings.
  • Contact PowerCampus users on behalf of the PCUG.
  • Complete other assignments as designated by the President.

Note: The Vice President shall serve one year as Vice President and the following year as President.


  • Record and distribute minutes of all PCUG membership and Executive Board meetings.
  • Receive nominations at the annual PCUG conference, obtain consent of nominees and prepare ballots.
  • Perform other duties necessary and incidental to the office of Secretary.

Communications Officer

  • Manage the PCUG web page
  • Assist with web-based applications, surveys, etc.
  • Promote electronic communication.

Program Committee Representative

  • Fulfill all obligations in conjunction with annual conference hosted by Ellucian.
  • Administer the PCUG annual conference scholarship process.

This is a great way to get involved with the PowerCampus user community and help direct the future of the PowerCampus Users Group. The PowerCampus Users Group will be hosting October’s PCUG Discuss online gathering on October 26th at 3pm Eastern Time. Join us to have an open discussion of generating 1098-T statements. Let’s get together to discuss setups, how to ensure successful statement runs, delivering statements to students, and transmitting to the IRS.

PCUG Welcomes Our New Board Members

On Wednesday, July 6th at 2:00 PM Eastern the PowerCampus Users Group held our annual elections. Thank you to everyone who voted! We would like to welcome our new board members. Prior to the election, the PCUG Board appointed Jason Stegman from Highland Community College to serve as Vice President. Jason has now ascended to the President position. Ken Kogler from Concordia Seminary has been elected as our new Vice President. Adrian Smith from Metropolitan College of New York was re-elected to the Treasurer position. Wyatt Best has assumed the Secretary role. Aaron Kryger from Multnomah University has now moved from President to become our new President Emeritus.

We would like to thank our outgoing Board Members. Thank you to Lisa Geiser, who previously held the Secretary position. We also thank Brette Hankin who previously served as Vice President.

PCUG Discuss: Single Sign-On

Have you been wishing to implement a single sign-on (SSO) for Self-Service but aren’t sure where to start? With presenter Wyatt Best of Metropolitan College of New York, you will learn basic SSO concepts, such as identity providers, consumers, and assertions. Then you will look at the specifics of connecting Self-Service 9 to two popular identity providers, Active Directory Federated Services (AD FS) and Azure AD using the WS-Federation and SAML protocols. If you have tried unsuccessfully to implement SSO, bring your questions and error messages for a Q&A after the presentation.

Let’s get together and discuss the methods we use and the challenges we face with communicating with our students.  Come prepared to ask questions and talk about your school’s solutions to the challenges that you have faced.  Topics may include:

  • How PowerCampus is being used for student communication.
  • What other tools schools are using to communicate with students.
  • How communication methods differ by functional area (Registrar, Bursar, etc.)
  • The challenges of defining who is a student.
  • Communication with other groups of people such as alumni.
